As the days stretch long and golden, we hope you’re finding time for cold-brewed tea, laughter, and the people you love.
We have a big announcement!
We’re crossing the ocean—literally and figuratively—as we prepare to move to Japan at the end of August.
We’ve talked about this change for years. Originally, we were planning this transition for a later time, but everything lined up unexpectedly, and we felt it was the right moment and we couldn’t let it pass. To be honest, life is chaotic right now. My heart races daily as we rush to prepare, with barely a moment to slow down—except when brewing tea, packing orders for our tea friends, or chatting with farmers in Japan.
It’s bittersweet. We've lived in Portland for over a decade now, and we’ve fallen in love with Oregon’s natural beauty, the vibrant cultural life, and—most of all—the friends we’ve made here.
The biggest reason for this decision is our family in Japan. Some of you know what it’s like to live far from loved ones and miss sharing everyday moments together.
Well—it’s happening. It’s scary to leap into the unknown, but we’re also deeply excited about what’s ahead.
So what’s next?
We’re planning to set up Chaba in Japan, strengthen our connection with the tea world, and continue sharing the teas we love.
Meanwhile, my brain is spinning with regulations and paperwork as we navigate the switch between countries. Wish me luck sorting out all these sticky business matters in our ever-changing world!
